Rehabilitation Services Department
Crossroads Community Hospital's Rehabilitation Services Department offers physical therapy, occupational therapyand speech therapy.
Physical Therapy is the evaluation, examination and utilization of exercise, rehabilitative procedures and physical agents in aiding the diagnosis and treatment of patients to return to their maximum functional level.
Occupational Therapy involves the evaluation, treatment and consultation of the patient to use purposeful activity in order to maximize independence, prevent disability and maintain health.
Speech Therapy involves evaluation, treatment and consultation of patients with speech and language disorders, cognitive and memory deficits and swallowing disorders.
All services emphasize education of both the patient and caregivers. Patients range from pediatric to geriatric.
The most common diagnoses or disabilities treated are:
- Orthopedic Injury or Surgery
- Back/Neck Pain
- CVA
- Developmental Disability
- General Deconditioning
- Swallowing Disorders
Commonly utilized procedures in each discipline are:
- Physical therapy - therapeutic exercise, gait training, physical agent modalities, wound care, evaluation and education
- Occupational therapy - therapeutic exercise, ADL training, splint modification/fabrication, evaluation and education
- Speech therapy - speech/language evaluation and intervention, cognitive techniques, alternative communication techniques, oral motor function and swallowing evaluation and treatment and education
